Minion Rush is an endless runner style game, and players that have tried at least one endless runner game will be very familiar with the  gameplay of this game.

Gameplay

Gameloft has done an amazing job at implementing new experiences into the “Endless Running” genre. We saw a few new experiences in their marvel game Iron Man 3 – The Official Game which is an endless runner style of game except you’re flying.

Despicable Me: Minion Rush brings us closer to the traditional endless runner games like Temple Run or Agent Dash. Whatever the case, if you’ve tried an endless runner game then you’ll fit right at home in this game.

Players can be expecting in this game is the regular swipe controls, bananas & power-ups to collect, and exciting  3D levels. Some of the new experiences that players may find are in the power-ups and special angle views for certain moments during a stage. Aside from that, the look and feel of the game is very similar to other endless runners.

Controls

The basic controls of the game are extremely easy to understand and the tutorial is about a minute or less. Like any endless runner game, you swipe left and right to move left or right. Swipe up to jump and swipe down to slide under objects.

Some stages will require you to use the motion sensors on your device to be able to move your characters.

Power-Ups

There are multiple power-ups in the game that will help you through your adventure such as the rocket, minion shield and so forth. You can have the items from the store or during your run while running in the game.

The graphics for the game is well developed with vibrant colors that suits the bright yellow-looking minions. A large percentage of the graphics are in 3D, in a cartoon-ish way and fits perfectly for players to enjoy the game. There are beautiful animations and effects when you activate power-ups like the rocket or shield.

Despicable Me: Minion Rush Sounds

The music and sound effects in Despicable Me: Minion Rush are really enjoyable. There’s a mysterious and silly type of feel to it that fits Despicable Me perfectly  and those yellow Minions. There are also those silly sound effects of the minions “yelling”, “screaming” or talking that will just put a smile on your face.

Overall, Despicable Me: Minion Rush is another well-developed endless runner from Gameloft. Gameloft has always pushed the limits of mobile games and Minion Rush has some brand new experiences that endless runner players will love. The controls are very similar to other endless runner games so veteran players of the genre won’t take long to adjust to this game.

Being an endless runner game leaves little room for changing the experience in a major way but the developers have been able to push the genre – and experience a bit further with new features and experience from a different angle. You’ll notice throughout the game, you get to experience the game from different angles at certain points which increases the difficulty. Additionally there are certain points in the game where you must use the motion sensors on your device.
