Beach Buggy Blitz is a 3D racing game developed by Vector Unit filled with unlockable vehicles, characters and upgrades. Despite the cartoony style to it, Beach Buggy Blitz features one of the most complete 3D experiences using various lighting effects and textures. It doesn’t compare to the likes of Asphalt or Real Racing in terms of driving mechanics, but it is fun to play nonetheless.

Racing games have always been a difficult development challenge on touch screen devices due to the lack of multiple hardware controls, but a few developers have managed to get by without too many issues. Beach Buggy Blitz is a game that shows both the difficulties of the touchscreen platform, and how a good developer can combat most of the problems that get in the way of a fun racing game.
Like many racing games, there are two methods of control in Beach Buggy Blitz; the classic tilt-to-steer control, and the touch-to-steer. Both control options are relatively similar, however the tilt-to-steer control has its hiccups now and then and can often ruin a good race due to sensitivity issues. The touch controls work fine, but due to the breaks being touch controls as well, being able to turn and break at the same time can sometimes be inconvenient. Despite the slightly awry controls, the gameplay itself is incredibly enjoyable:
In Beach Buggy Blitz you race against the time, collecting coins as you drive through the race track. You can also get time bonuses for reaching checkpoints throughout the track, and these are needed to keep racing for extended periods of time.
Once you run out of time, you’re given a score dependent on how far you went and how many coins you’ve collected, which can then be viewed amongst other people’s scores on the leaderboards.
From the menu, you can use your coins to buy upgrades that offer advantages similar to those you’d find in temple run. Once bought, the upgrade will appear in-game, and can be collected to offer abilities such as coin magnets, shields and speed boosts.
You can also spend your coins on extra characters, new cars, and performance upgrades. It’s fairly easy to get both the upgrades and the cars, although some characters are a little expensive.
Beach Buggy Blitz Graphics
The graphics in Beach Buggy Blitz follow a cartoony style reminiscent of Mario Kart or Crash Tag Team Racing. The characters have over-sized heads and are humorously the same size as the cars themselves, and both the characters and cars have been stylized to better fit with the cartoon theme.
The 3D models have been designed well though, and unlike other games, they feel very solid, so when you drive the car, you can really feel the turns and crashes as they happen.
The track itself has been designed with care as well, and features a few different environments and scenery aspects of which you’ll see more of as you drive more meters in the game.
There are also a few graphics effects in place such as water splashes that hit against your screen when driving through the water, and advanced lighting and shadowing mechanics.
Overall, the graphics in Beach Buggy Blitz are beautifully refined, and nothing feels out of place or uncomfortable on the eye.

There are some really good beats to this game and most of the sound effects are well polished.

Beach Buggy Blitz is easy to pick up, and has a huge amount of content to purchase with game coins to give you a reason to keep playing and improve your character’s skill in-game. It has a similar score system to the popular Temple Run games, and even after a good few hours of gameplay, it still has enough spark in it to keep it interesting.
The race track gets a bit boring, despite never having the same track layout generated twice, and without any real changes in environment, Beach Buggy Blitz really misses out on the potential to show off the great graphics it has available.
Bottom line: Buggy racing fun-ness!
