Did you pick up a new iPad Mini? Or perhaps an iPad? Well if like arcade fighters and don’t want to pay the premium price for one, Blade Lords is here!

When we first saw Blade Lords, we were really surprised with the graphics. It’s absolutely amazing. It’s not long before we notice that it runs on the Unreal Technology that makes it great. Unreal Technology is the same engine that runs hot titles like Infinity Blade (I & II) and Dark Meadows.

If you look at games powered with Unreal Technology, their graphics are generally really well done. And that’s exactly what’s so stunning about this game. You’ll get to battle with a number of characters with stunning graphics and moves that simply reminds veteran players of Street Fighter or King of Fighters.

Blade Lords Gameplay

Fighting games have always been a challenge on mobile devices. This is because touch screen sensitivity is really a problem for doing arcade-style moves. Don’t worry about that though. You won’t need to do any “round-house” combos with your directional pad.

Battle System

In Blade Lords, you do get a direction pad separated into 8 keys that allow you to move forward, jump, back, and duck to the ground. On the right side is the attack buttons, A,B, and S.

A –  Attack

B – Strong Attacks

C – Super Attacks

Essentially, the battle system for the game is simple. Simple doesn’t mean it’s bad because on a mobile device you can’t do much. Simple means that it gives you better control over a touch screen device allowing the player to have a less frustrating experience. Have you tried doing a round-house uppercut on the touch screen? It’s not fun.

Characters

There are four characters in the game, and each character has their own quest and equipment store. However, they’re not free and you must unlock them using coins you gain throughout the game.

Online Multi-player

There is a Duel mode in the game but it appears it is under construction and coming soon. This mode will enable players to compete against each other from around the world online. It’s expected to be available in future updates if not yet available.

Quests/Battles

Quests are essentially 2v2 battles. Oppose to just showing your opponent’s face you’ll be able to check out where your opponents are from by chapter and the world map.

Blade Lords Graphics

As we talked about earlier, Unreal Technology creates some of the best graphic games in the mobile market. It’s no different in Blade Lords. The graphics are in 3D during battles and there is a “traditional Asian” style artwork feel to the fighters using a samurai sword but I guess that’s because its Samurais are from Japan.

Nevertheless, the graphics are well developed and beyond stunning for a FREE fighter game in the market today.

Blade Lords Sounds

Sound is a very important part to any game. Have you played a game where when you do something there’s no response? We know how that feels. That’s why we try to rate the sound portion of a game even if it is basics in some genres.

We can’t really say there’s a melody in a fighting game but there is a cool techno soundtrack in Blade Lords. All of the sound effects are also in place which means the game is well developed.

Blade Lords Round-up

There are not many bad points to a FREE fighter game that is so well developed. The only thing that players would argue is the limited number of characters in the game. Other than that, there are a dozen or more good points and more to come in the future when the game gets multi-player.

Well, we did miss one point. The game at the time of this writing is only available for iPads. That means iPhone owners may not play the game until their device versions are released. However, for new iPad mini players? You get a FREE quality fighting game for your iPad mini!

Bottom line: Absolutely Stunning!
