The gameplay of Star Trek Rivls is like a combination of chess and a trading-card game. Players are dealt a hand of 5 random cards at the beginning of each game. These cards don’t have attack or defense points or any special moves. Instead, they just have a picture of a Star Trek character and a number on each side of the card. The battlefield is essentially a three-by-three grid where players place the cards.
The object of the game is to place cards that have sides with high numbers next to your opponents’ cards. For example, if your opponent places a card that has the number 3 on the left side, you will want to place a card next to it that has the number 4 or higher on the right side. When the number on your card is higher, you will overtake power of your opponents card.
In order to win the game you must place your cards in a way that will make them more powerful than the others. Each time players win a match they are awarded with experience points. All matches are multiplayer and are played through a wireless network. The more you play, the more your deck of cards will accumulate, thus making yourself more stronger and powerful as you play on.
