The Leap Year Dragon is a super limited edition dragon in DragonVale. It was released in Feb 2012 as part of the leap year event and only lasted for 2 days for players to breed.

At the time it was a highly sought after dragon because of it’s close appearance to the rainbow dragon but in gold form.

“The exceptionally rare leap year dragon can only be seen in the wild once every four years near Bridget’s Pass. Some say that simply gazing upon them has even caused women to spontaneously propose! Leap Year Dragon Breeding Guide

The Leap Year Dragon can be bred with any of the four elements that breeds a Rainbow Dragon. One of the popular Leap Year Dragon breeding combinations is Seaweed Dragon and Firefly Dragon.

You can breed this Leap Year Dragon on the DragonVale Epic Breeding Island or on the DragonVale Breeding Cave.

    Got 1 as well. Lava + Fog haha, second try… seems to be quite common.

      My brother bred1st time lichen and lava epic breeding island. It took me ages firefly and seaweed. You can breed leap year and rainbow but it only gets you rainbows. I tried myself. 2 random dragons with 4 different elements should work.

    I currently have cold, lightning, and plant as silver. The rest are bronze. To make the moon dragon, you need at the cold and lightning elements, so I got my cold and lightning to sliver, so that I could make my moon dragon level 15, but it didn’t work! Why didn’t it work? And how do I get reinbow, leap year, and sun to level 15+

      I swear. The easiest was to get Leap Year Dragon is: panlong with Lightning. I tried it 2 Times and got 2 Leap Year Dragons.

      I read somewhere when your dragons get to Max level 10 to go further you have to buy the statues. Don’t know which ones I’m not ready to do that yet.

      I wanted to get a paper dragon but I got leap year first try. I think I bred it with gift and lightning I think. I don’t know if that’s what I bred but it’s what I remember.
