Flappy Bird the flapping bird is what all the rave is about these days, but being removed from the market, “Splashy Fish – The Adventure of a Flappy Tiny Bird Fish” is a great alternative (if not the best) for players around the world to get a similar experience but with a flapping fish. Taking the same mechanics from Flappy Bird, Splashy Fish, holds up quite strongly in the genre and adds it’s own spin such as the special wings you can obtain when flying a certain distance.

THE GAMEPLAY
I’m sure most casual gamers will get the hang of Splashy Fish fairly quickly and if you’re a Flappy Bird veteran then it’s going to be a walk in the park. Just like Flappy Bird, in Splashy fish you will be flying a fish trying to avoid pipes and objects ahead like an obstacle course hoping through pipes to get the best score.
THE VERDICT
Let’s be honest, Flappy Bird did not have the best game design, some would say it was unimaginative because it’s a game most developers can pull off with little effort. That being said, the Flappy Flyer (or Flappy Bird Flyer) genre was born.
Many console or hardcore gamers find it hard to accept these type of games (even for myself) but looking at it from a market standpoint, it’s difficult to deny the numbers that it has been successful. Perhaps because it’s on a mobile platform that has caused the hype, and because all the quality of the game was a good fit for most mobile players that wanted a quick game.
The game, Splashy Fish, is simple, challenging, and best of all, it doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes to play. It’s so simple and easy anyone can try it. Splashy Fish has kept up with most of the design in Flappy Bird and has made the game more playable to players. So go ahead and give it a try if you are looking for a quick and challenging game. In the hearts of many, good or bad, Flappy Bird will always be the original so for that it gets 4 stars for having a very similar gameplay.
