Tetris® Blitz Review

Tetris Blitz is the evolution and next generation of Tetris for mobile players around the world. From the already popular strategy game “Tetris” for mobile devices, Electronic Arts Inc. releases a modernized “Blitz” version of the popular strategy game into the market. The big difference is that this game is available for free oppose to their other Tetris title.

Blitz is the ultimate puzzle game that combines the classic strategy and fun of the original Tetris with new features and a race against the clock for players to clear blocks and collect as many points as they can.

Tetris® Blitz Gameplay

Tetris is overshadowed these days by all the other great genres out there. However, Tetris Blitz is no originary Tetris games from the 80s or 90s, it’s an upgraded version with new features, bonuses, soundtrack and more.

Tetris is a relatively simple game with one objective, to try to eliminate stacking blocks before they stack up to the top of the screen. You do this by filling in any empty squares at the bottom and once the squares are filled horizontally, that row will clear collapsing the ladder blocks downwards.

Blitz on the other hand is about racing the clock and stacking as many points as you can before the timer runs out. It’s not all about filling in the block, you can choose power-ups like Quake, Laser, Time Shift, Magnet, and so forth to help you throughout the game.

Controls

Traditionally, there is two functions, the ability to rotate and move the blocks then the ability to place the shapes where you want. In Blitz, everything is made simple for the average player, you’ll be given a spots you want to place the pieces and you can tap on the screen to select other positions. No more trying to slide that piece into a tight spot, because the game will do it for you.

Tetris® Blitz Graphics

The graphics in Blitz is better than the previous version released by EA. It feels that the game has really taken steps to design the game in a way that it feels more virtual and interactive with the 3D backgrounds oppose to the classic block on block puzzle game.

Blitz has one of the most exciting soundtracks for Tetris, gamers will find that many of the stages will have upbeat and retro tracks that adds to the intensity of each stage for the player.

Tetris Blitz is everything you’d want in a mobile game. It’s challenging, simple, fast, and it has exciting music. It has everything for an on the go player and does not restrict you while you’re traveling.

Many of the mobile games today suffer from the lack of mobility. Either you need to be consistently connected to the internet, or the game is long and drawn out. Tetris Blitz packs a great experience in a short amount of time and most of the time, players are probably expecting a longer stage when the timer goes up.
